Guest Designer Spot Light : Katie Lees
Posted on February 07 2016
Glasgow School of Art is renowned for its alumni and our guest designer Katie Lees hails from here. Lees continues to handcraft her collections in her Glasgow studio, feeding off the city landscape : expect bold geometric shapes, industrial chain features, pyramid gemstones, as well as smaller more subtle configurations. Direct inspiration is said to come from 'the fragments of industrial steel sheds', 'sheets of rusted steel' and 'dock stanchions of eroded wood that define the river Clyde'.
Her concept of creating fine jewellery from often austere and cold purpose built structures seems conflicting, yet her work come through as curious, evocative and beautiful. Lee is one of our original Guest Designer collective, and continues to be a firm favourite with customers.
